Council Update

Council Appointment Update

Following the process set out in CDTA Council policy, the Appointment Committee was pleased to identify a strong pool of candidates to fill the upcoming Council vacancies. This year, there were two positions available and two highly qualified candidates, both of whom met all the established criteria.

This is a great milestone for the College as we transition to a merit-based appointment process.

After several years of dedicated service as a regulated member councillor and most recently as Vice-Chair, Joe Sleiman’s term concluded on November 22, 2025. Council and staff thank Joe for his many years of service and for his commitment to the CDTA and its mandate of public protection.

Grant Maier (Regulated Member) has been appointed to the role of Vice-Chair.

Transition to a Merit-Based Appointment Process for Council

The College of Dental Technologists of Alberta (CDTA) is committed to strong, transparent, and modern regulatory governance. Following extensive research, consultation, and thoughtful development of supporting resources, the Council approved the transition to a merit-based appointment process for Council members. This new process will take effect in 2026.
