Hearing Tribunal (HT) and Complaint Review Committee (CRC)
As part of its responsibilities under the Health Professions Act (HPA), the College maintains a roster of regulated members to serve on Complaint Review Committees (CRC) and Hearing Tribunals (HT). These committees and tribunals play a critical role in supporting the College's obligations related to professional conduct matters, ensuring that dental technologists and technicians are held to the highest standards of practice.
The CRC and HT have the authority to make decisions as outlined in the HPA.
Hearing Tribunal
Hearing Tribunals are comprised of at least three members, and 50% or more of the members must be public members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. Hearing Tribunals are established to make decisions on a disciplinary matter and as authorized in the Act. Hearing Tribunal decisions are published unless doing so would cause harm to a complainant.
Complaint Review Committee
The CRC is comprised of at least two (2) Registered Dental Technologists and/or Technicians and the number of public members required under the Act. The CRC reviews the dismissal of a complaint under the professional conduct section when requested by a complainant and reviews and ratifies settlements under the alternative resolution section of the HPA.
