Professional liability insurance (PLI) serves to protect the public by requiring registrants to maintain PLI, which includes coverage for claims alleging negligence. The College of Dental Technologists of Alberta’s mandate is to protect the public. To this end, PLI insurance is included in every registrants annual registration fees with the CDTA. This allows the CDTA to ensure that all its registrants have and maintain the required PLI to protect Albertans. Insurance premiums are integrated into the initial registration or renewal fees paid by regulated members to the CDTA on a cost-recovery basis.
