Changes to Regulatory Documents

The College of Dental Technologists of Alberta (CDTA) Council and the Government of Alberta have approved amendments to the Dental Technologists Profession Regulation, which come into force on March 31, 2023. 

These amendments are part of the ongoing work relating to Bill 46, the Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2020 (No. 2), which introduced changes to the Health Professions Act (HPA). 

2024 Council Election Results

Two regulated member positions on Council were open for election in the 2024 election. Because the number of nominations received was less than the number of vacancies on Council, the Nomination and Election Committee filled one position by acclamation on a 3-year term in accordance with the CDTA Bylaws. 

2024 CDTA Council Election Results 

(1) Notice of Election 

The Notice of Election was published on the CDTA website and distributed to the Membership via email on February 26, 2024, March 11, 2024 and March 18, 2024. The deadline for Nominations was of March 18, 2024. The Notice of Election, call for nominations, and nomination package was posted on the CDTA website. 

(2) Review of Nomination(s) 

The Canadian Alliance of Dental Technology Regulators (CADTR) announces the launch of the Access to Dental Technology (ADT), Phase II project.

The Canadian Alliance of Dental Technology Regulators (CADTR) is excited to announce the launch of Access to Dental Technology, Phase II project. Funded in-part by the Government of Canada’s Foreign Credential Recognition Program, this 3-year project aims to increase and streamline opportunities for licensure for internationally educated applicants seeking licensure in one of Canada’s regulated jurisdictions.

2024 Council Election

An election of the CDTA Council pursuant to the Health Professions Act, and the CDTA Bylaws, will be held on April 30, 2024. In accordance with the CDTA bylaws, ballots will be cast electronically prior to Monday, May 1, 2024.

PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE

Professional liability insurance (PLI) serves to protect the public by requiring regulated members to maintain PLI, which includes coverage for claims alleging negligence. 

The College of Dental Technologists of Alberta’s mandate is to protect the public. To this end, PLI insurance is included in every Regulated Members annual registration fees with the CDTA. This allows the CDTA to ensure that all its Regulated Members have and maintain the required PLI to protect Albertans.Â
