RDT & DT

REGISTERED DENTAL TECHNOLOGIST "RDT"
• Has obtained a diploma from a Dental Technology Training Program, of at least 2 years, that has been approved by the College.
• Has successfully completed practical examinations in all the following 4 competencies of Dental Technology:

     - Removable Full Dentures
     - Removable Partial Dentures
     - Crowns and Bridges
     - Fixed, Removable Orthodontics and Periodontal Appliances

A Registered Dental Technologist has an Unrestricted Practice Permit



REGISTERED DENTAL TECHNICIAN "DT"
•Has obtained a diploma from a Dental Technology Training Program, of at least 2 years, that has been approved by the College.
•Has successfully completed a practical examination in one or more of the following competencies of Dental Technology but not all 4:

    - Removable Full Dentures
     - Removable Partial Dentures
     - Crowns and Bridges
     - Fixed, Removable Orthodontics and Periodontal Appliances

A Registered Dental Technician has a Restricted Practice Permit


CONTINUING COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR A REGISTERED DENTAL TECHNOLOGIST OR REGISTERED DENTAL TECHNICIAN

Each registered member is required to upgrade his or her knowledge in the Dental Technology Competency on a continual basis. The College requires each regulated member to acquire 60 points for each five (5) year registration period. Professional Development Forms are provided to each regulated member. It is the member’s responsibility to make sure that the completion of all duplicated Professional Development Forms are submitted upon renewal of membership (lost or duplication of member forms are subject to a administrative replacement fee). Dental Technician Auxiliaries and Educational and Practicum students are encouraged to participate in Continued Competency recognitions and may receive their own Professional Development forms upon request for a fee. The Registrar of the College will call for periodic audits of competency attendance to verify your compliance with the Health Professions Act
