Mandatory Registrations

College of Dental Technologists of Alberta


Mandatory Registration for:

1. A person must apply for registration if the applicant is practicing the competencies of a Dental Technologist or Dental Technician.

2. If the Registrar is of the opinion that a person who is not a regulated member meets or may meet the requirements of a dental technologist or dental technician, the Registrar may give that person a written request  to apply for registration.

3. A person who receives a request, must complete an application for registration, and return to the Registrar within 30 days of receiving the request. All application fees must be paid prior to registration.

4. No person shall knowingly employ a person who meets the registration requirements and does not apply for registration.

5. A person who meets the registration requirements but does not comply with the request is guilty of an offence.

(a) first offence $2,000.00

(b) second offence $4,000.00

(c) third offence $6,000.00, or imprisonment for a term of 6 months

6. The Court of Queen’s Bench, on application by a college by way of originating notice, may grant an injunction to prevent any person from providing the services of a Dental Technologist or Dental Technician, if the person is not authorized and regulated.
